I am a tech for an isp company. I have had several customers call in and have
different issues with Vista. One is that the network is not recgonizing the network. It is with different routers since we service different ISPs. It works for a bit then it doesnt. Vista says that it cannot connect to the undientified network. I also have a problem with windows mail. It prompts for username and password. they are correctly entered. and when you reenterthem it pops back up to have you put in the username and password. The only time that the recgonizing the network, saying it was an undentified network. So one customer i had made a home network then Vista recgonized the private network. Is this standard for Vista? -- Message posted via http://www.windowskb.com |

every case can be different, but generically, unbinding IPv6 and the
broadcast flag issue are the culprits. Don't understand what you mean with "So one customer i had made a home network then Vista recgonized the private network". What exactly did you do? Run a wizard? Set the network to private? Are these wired or wireless connections or both? you need to post individual details for each problem. you can see examples by reading some of the posts in this forum. The Windows Mail question should be asked in a general help newsgroup/forum. On Tue, 22 Jan 2008 20:32:05 GMT, "mountainman2837 via WindowsKB.com" u40811@uwe wrote: I am a tech for an isp company. Well with this customer i had said he was asked if he wanted to set up a home
network. He did it. Ran thru the steps. Then the DSL connection he has was recongized and he was able to connect. He ststed that the Vista said that the DSL connection was a private network. These are wired and wireless that we deal with. for the most part its usally with the wired ones. So i have unbinded the IPv6 before with no sucess with some customers. Would making a static ip work? Has anyone ever heard of this error message during boot-OODBS PROGRAM NOT FOUND SKIPPING AUTOCHECK, I am plagued with this in my startup. I googled it and found many solutions for Windows XP but the registry tweaks are not the same for Vista. Thanks in advance. -- John Lagree |
