Hi,

Can anybody tell me where to find the temp internet Video file stored on the
PC while browsing the internet. I was watching video's from I tube site when
i click on some video it gets downloaded on the pc and then plays. I want to
know in which folder these files gets stored in Windows Vista.

I'm not sure how to find that specific file, but the TIF location is not a
secret. Just start Internet Explorer and click Tools | Internet Options.
(If you don't see the Menu Bar, with the Tools button on it, press Alt to
show the bar temporarily, or right-click on the Address Bar and check the
box to toggle the Menu Bar on.) In the middle of the first (General) tab,
is Browsing History. Click Settings to bring up a screen with lots of
information and options about Temporary Internet Files and History Settings,
including Current location, showing the full pathname for the TIF folder.

DO NOT try to manage the TIF folder and the files in it with "normal"
Windows tools. These files have their own special rules. Use the buttons
on this screen.

And this is where I can't tell you what to do next. My guess is that, since
video files are usually large, you might find the file you want by clicking
View Files and then click the top of the Size column to sort by size. Good
luck!

Thanks for your reply. In the earlier version of the Windows like XP, 2000
etc you can able to see the video file you played from you tube online
getting downloaded in to the temp int. file folder. I used to save those
files from there to other folders. However in Windows Vista when i played a
video online and then opend Temp. Int. file folder i was unable to locate the
file temparorily downloaded to that folder.

That's why i raised the query to see whether the video file get downloaded
to any other folder in the windows vista.

I've been using Pimpfish (terrible name, I know) as a browser extension in IE7 for over a year, and it works great for downloading Youtube videos. It's not freeware, but I think you can use it quite a bit without registering it. I liked it enough to pay to register it. http://www.pimpfish.com/download.html

One problem with Youtube videos is that they are in the FLV format. So they will download to your computer in that format. You can either get a utility to view them in the .flv format or you can find other utilities that will convert them from .flv to .wmv or other formats. Such free utilities can be found at download.com, pcworld, or other safe file downloading sites.

Pimpfish will also work with Mozilla Firefox, but not quite as well as it does with IE7. You have to install it in IE7 before installing it as an add-on to Firefox. I've read there are other browser extensions that promise to download from Youtube too, but Pimpfish is the only one I've used so I know it works.

my default browser is firefox2.
there's lots of free plugins for downloading videos:

anyway after installing the latest free realplayer 11

(dont like rp very much, but need to listen to some rm streamings), on top
of most videos in firefox i see a tab 'download this video'. rp saves them
as flv's (strongly compressed, i didnt check if a quality option is
available, just tested it a few times).

as for seeing flv's, my favorite video player for most video formats is vlc

way lighter and simpler than wmp, if you dont need strobos.
it handles flv's very well.

yes, tested it right now. a youtube: downloaded with rp, seen with vlc. fair
quality.
tested this too: the rp11 tab 'download' also appears in ie7.

all of this in vista hp.

a note: if you'll use rp11, just set it to save flv's on desktop or any
folder less hidden than its own...

Thanks for the tip. I agree that Pimpfish is a terrible name. But I might
give it a try.

I really wanted something like that a couple of months ago when someone gave
me the link to an amazing video about a fast-dealing card shark. I wanted
my casino-loving aunt to see it, so I tried to get it to show on her
computer. But she doesn't compute much and cut back from cable to dial-up
after her husband died. The video was excruciatingly slow on dial-up.
:( So I wanted to download it onto a USB drive and take it to her machine.

If I can find that video again, maybe I can download Pimpfish and use it to
show her.
