no sound
I can see, hear & talk to friends using Skype or Live Messenger, but I have no
sound at all when I go to Media Player. I can't play (hear) a music CD or hear a radio station. I hear no "welcome" sound when I start Windows. I am using Windows Vista Home Premium, SoundMax Integrated DigitalHD Audio, both of which I have re-installed to no avail. Any suggestions? |

Bablakeboy,
Go to the Sound Mixer by double clicking the speaker icon in the Systray. See if the volume sliders are high and not muted. Can you please help me, i so miss the sound The same problem as what? Since you didn't quote any of the post to which you are referring, no one knows what you mean. If you are not getting sound, it's because: 1. You installed the wrong drivers; or 2. Your speakers aren't connected correctly; or 3. You have the speakers connected to an onboard sound connector when you really are using a standalone PCI sound card; or 4. You have a PCI standalong card and forgot to disable onboard sound in the BIOS; or 5. Your sound hardware is broken. Since we don't know anything about your computer, that's as specific as I can get. See below for general drivers information: Never get drivers from Windows Update. Get them from: 1. The device mftr.'s website; OR 2. The motherboard mftr.'s website if hardware is onboard; OR 3. The OEM's website for your specific machine if you have an OEM computer (HP, Dell, Sony, etc.). Read the installation instructions on the website where you get the drivers. To find out what hardware is in your computer: 1. Read any documentation you got when you bought the computer. 2. If the computer is OEM, go to the OEM's website for your specific model machine and look at the specs (you'll be there to get the drivers anyway) 3. Download, install and run a free system inventory program like Belarc Advisor or System Information for Windows. http://www.belarc.com/free_download.html - Belarc Advisor http://www.gtopala.com/ - System Information for Windows Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com Don't Panic! |
