Hi there, I hope someone can help! I have Windows Vista Home Premium and
basically my files keep disappearing. I have saved them in the same way I used to on Windows XP: I create some text files - straight forward Windows Word Processor - when I had about 6 I created a folder and dragged and dropped them into it. I uploaded photos which were also put in a folder and CDs likewise. After a period of 2 days to 2 weeks the CD uploads had disappeared and now after 1 month my text files and lots of picture files have also vanished, leaving behind the folders I created empty. The 'Sample Pictures' that came ready installed have also gone. Obviously I want to store things on the hard drive, but does anyone know what could be happening? with thanks, M. |

Where are you keeping the folder? It rather sounds like you've put it in a Temp folder that will get cleaned out occasionally. Of course that's just a guess and I don't see why the empty folders would be left behind. Give us the full path to where the folders are. Also, are you the only one with access to your computer? Is this a new computer? Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User |

Hi there, (some other very strange replies here!) I am the only one with
access to my computer, I think the 'recent documents' or 'recentely changed' documents folder might be to blame, am still not sure, thanks for your reply anyway. OK, I'm not sure either. Any folder that is called "recently changed" or "recent documents" is not going to be a "real" place but only links to exactly what it says - files that have been recently used. These links will change over time. So I'm not sure that 1) you're looking in the right place for your files; 2) where you're really putting them. I'm sorry not to be able to help you, but I do think that enlisting the aid of someone who can actually *see* the computer might be the next, more efficient step.
