Default Installing a PCMCIA Card Drive in desktop to use PC5740 card in

I have a new Dell XPS 420 with Vista Home Premium, I am trying to
install a Pcmcia card drive into a pci slot so i can use my PC5740
verizon wireless broadband card in for my internet connection.
Currently I use this card in my laptop for internet connection
which is Verizon broadband...
Laptop has XP and Vista on new desktop
I installed software that came with drive, added Visa driver file,
installed Verizon Access Manager with Vista driver,
Control shows drive, but when I slide in pc 5740 card, monitor goes to
blue or black and says Windows encountered a problem and is shutting
down,,,first it trys to repair then it can't repair so it shuts down....
Before you ask,,,broadband is the only option I have other than dialup
or satelite.....any suggestions please

Could you get a USB modem from Verizon
http://news.vzw.com/news/2007/02/pr2007-02-01c.html ? Other option would be
network from laptop to desktop & share wireless access. What type of adapter
are you using to interface PCMCIA cart to desktop ?
