Anyone have any luck installing video codecs such as XVID, DIVX, etc., on
Vista RC1? Similar to Media Center 2005, the codecs will install and operate fine under Media Player 11 from the normal shell, but are not recognized by media player within Media Center. This was a very frustrating issue with MCE 2005 (codecs not used universally by media player in and out of Media Center). Any workarounds to get third-party codecs such as the ones above working correctly under Vista Media Center? Thanks - AH |

I had this problem - in the end it was a bug on the ATI RC1 drivers
(really!) - uninstalling it solved. "AHeber" wrote in message ... Anyone have any luck installing video codecs such as XVID, DIVX, etc., on Vista RC1? I had decoder errors in media center and media player wouldn't play any kind
of video I installed the 30 day free trial of pure video platinum and it fixed the issue in both media center and media player the main thing to keep an eye on is that you make sure you install the package AS Administrator and in compatibility mode for XP "Andre Costa" wrote in message ... I tried both suggestions, with no luck. I installed Purevideo in
compatibility mode as Administrator - nothing changed. I uninstalled the ATI drivers - nothing changed. I can watch XVID-encoded videos without issue in media player 11, however Media Center still reports that is cannot find the needed codecs. Steve -
I'm trying the 1.1 version of XVID with RC1. Movies will play in media player fine, but not within Media Center - go figure. For DVD playback, nVidia's PureVideo software works great in both pre-RC1 and RC1 for me. I must have held my face wrong at install, or some other dependency failure, I still have sound problems (picture displays). I can watch XVID-encoded videos without issue in media player 11, however Media Center still reports that is cannot find the needed codecs. Can u tell me what codec(s) u installed for xvid playback in WMP11? I tried many different codecs. Most worked fine in normal screen, but ALL went out of sync in full-screen. |
