At one place we have a PC running Vista. The same PC runs a copy of XP
under Virtual PC. If I copy a directory using Vista, it takes 4-5 minutes. If I copy the same directory using XP under Virtual PC, it takes 45 seconds. The directory is being copied to another PC running Vista. I'm assuming it can't be a driver or networking issue, since both method use the same driver and network (with the XP method using an additional Virtual PC driver.) Anyone have a clue how to proceeed with troubleshooting? (Before you ask, yes I tested with firewall & virus scanner uninstalled on the source machine.) |

File copying is a known problem with Vista. SP1 will fix it. SP1 is due out in March or so or if you don't mind beta software, you can find it on the Web right now as a Release Candidate. Tom Lake |

File copying is a known problem with Vista. *SP1 will fix it. *SP1 is
due out in March or so or if you don't mind beta software, you can find it on the Web right now as a Release Candidate. Thanks for your response. The machine in question has a non-US version of Vista, so I don't think the SP1 RC can be installed. Let's hope SP1 really fixes this when it arrives ![]() |
