Default reading DVD files

I have some stuff on a DVD I recorded using a cyberhome DVD recorder and
I've tried to download the files to make movie project's but the programs
supplied on vista won't recognise the file's? Then I managed to save them as
an iso file but that only saved the first chapter thats on the DVD, nothing
else.

any idea's?

The files with the video on your DVD have the extension .vob. Windows Movie
Maker will not handle .vob files per se; you have to convert them to a form
that WMM can handle. I convert my .vob files to .wmv format, using Windows
Media Encoder. There are other tools that will do this task, some of which
can be seen at this web site: http://www.windowsmoviemakers.net/forums/

Just Copy the vob files to your hard drive and then Rename from test.vom to
test.avi
or what ever fits...
