I am using my desktop (an XP machine) as a Bluetooth "basestation" for
my second computer, a tablet PC running vista, i.e. the tablet accesses the network and the internet via the (shared) ethernet connection of the desktop PC. I am using the BT networking profile for this and in principle this works quite nicely, EXCEPT that EACH time when I reconnect the tablet, the IP v4 networking properties of the BT network adapter on the tablet are set to "use the following IP address" where the address field shows the IP address used during the last connection and to "use the following DNS server address", where the IP address field is empty. I then always have to manually change those properties back to "obtain IP address automatically" and "obtain DNS server address automatically" after which things work fine. Any idea, why these settings are always modified? Can one somehow "nail this down" and tell vista to ALWAYS use those settings whenever this connection becomes active? Michael |
