I put the shortcut icon of a programme on my desktop. When the time came to
eliminate the file, I removed it in the usual way.

However, I did not remove the icon and the removal process did not remove
the icon.

Now, I cannot remove the icon as I can all others, by selecting it and then
deleting it.

Is there a process to get rid of these orphan icons?

What happens when you attempt to remove it?

Is my face red!

I had made several attempts to get rid of the icon in question and nothing
had happened. Then I wrote my item on this Board.

I then turned off my computer for two days - out golfing. When I came back,
I checked this board, and cycled to my desktop. The icon was gone!

Thanks to those who answered.
