the problem is NOT fixed. i have an ac97 sound chip on my asus board with
nforce chipset. i tried several drivers...from my mainboard cd, from the nvidia site and at last the vista beta drivers from realtek. every time i get fine sound but no possibility to switch something off or tune the volume of the line-in. and even if it would have been fixed...to remove the mixer and just leave a mini-volume panel in the taskbar is not very comfortable. |

That is odd, because my Nvidia/AC97 allows this. IT IS REALLY BURIED. Right click the speaker in the tool tray. Select "recording Devices" Highlight Line In Click "Properties" Select the "Levels" tab Adjust away |

If you Google for Vista sound mixer you will find some options that
you might not be aware of.. google found one result searching for "vista sound mixer".
i tried the realtak sound manager with a right-click in the taskbar where i have the following options: media player (works), audio recorder (works), sound control (no reaction....). it is sad that a standart tool that worked since win95 is not to use... vista is still a beta and microsoft should fix such essentials problems instead of creating software like dvd maker, defender and such things that other companies are doing better. microsoft in my opinion is an operating soystem...no all-in-one solution. sorry for that but at this time vista is useless for me. i am doing a lot of video-producing and getting access to all sound in- and outputs is more important to me than a sidebar with weather reports. thx for your suggestions. forgot the last thing: in the systemcontrol at sound / devices / recording... the line-in shows me a little equalizer who visualizes the sound that i hear with green lights... so it works as far...but the volume panel is at "0" and there is no chance to switch off...even when i deactivate. that is my problem. |
