What the
"HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ex plorer\UsersFiles\NameSpace\Folders" registry key is used for? Is it safe to delete its subkeys? Thanks. |

Hi,
I don't know specifically what that key is used for, but its location says that it is setting or configuration common to all accounts, probably to do with what appears in one of the Windows Explorer frames. Deleting any registry key without a specific purpose is foolhardy at best. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "dekac99" wrote in message ... Hi,
Thanks for your response. The reason why I would like to delete/rename this key is that I have moved Documents folder from my user profile and now there are two "Documents" folders under Desktop\UserName in Windows Explorer. When this registry key is deleted/renamed only one "Documents", the moved one, is there. Now the question is if this is safe to do it. Hi,
I'd make a backup of the key (file/export), then remove it. If other issues are found, and I suspect they won't be, then you can always import it back. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "dekac99" wrote in message ... Removing this key removes the Shared Documents folder from My Computer. No harm comes from deleting it unless you use that folder 'Remove Shared Documents folders from My Computer System Folder' (http://www.windowsnetworking.com/kba...mFo lder.html) -- Malindor |
