Has anyone been able to get Movie Maker to recognise xvid avi files? I
downloaded a codec at http://www.xvid.org/ and installed it. WMP11 and Media Center now play the avi files fine. Windows Movie maker only sees them as audio files. I'm currently using 32 bit build 5728. The problem was the same in 5600. -- Kerry MS-MVP Windows - Shell/User http://www.vistahelp.ca |

I'm having the exact same prblem! I have a .avi movie which has video encoded in xvid and audio in mp3. According to microsoft @ 'File formats supported by Windows Movie Maker in Windows XP' (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308464), this obviously isn't supported. Any way to fix this? -- AllahIsBest |

Yeah but i have a 2 hour and 40 minute long movie at super high quality which is going to take super long to export from windows movie maker itself, let alone the fact that windows movie maker doesn't exactly do nondestructive video editing. I want some kind of codec that can make it work. -- AllahIsBest |

Maybe there are better tools than WMM. -- whs |
