Hi Derek,
Try this: Click start, type CMD and right click the entry that appears in the program menu. Choose 'run as administrator' to open an elevated command prompt. Now open Task Manager (ctrl+shift+escape) and go to the processes tab, select and kill 'explorer.exe' from the list. Go back the command prompt, and move the folder (CD folder_path) that holds the .avi file you want to remove. Run "del /y file.avi" from the C:\folder_path prompt. Once confirmed, go to the applications tab of Task Manager, click on "New Task" and enter explorer.exe, then click ok to restart the Windows shell. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org My thoughts http://rick-mvp.blogspot.com "Klassickoi" wrote in message ... Hi Rick thans for your response, but things have moved on a little since my
post. I have managed to get the offending files to the recycle bin. But now they will not delete from there. Will your solution still work ?.
