Default Network automatic shutdown

I am using Vista Home Premium on HP Pavilion laptop. I connect to internet
through LAN and have done manual configuration. Recently, the a trouble has
started with the networking.
Suddenly, the page can not be loaded in the browser. When I run diagnostics
from browser (IE7), it says that 'not able to connect with the proxy server.
check your proxy settings'. But, my proxy settings are alright.
When I run diagnostics from Network And Sharing Center, it suggests 'Reset
the network adapter'. But nothing happens even after resetting.
When I restart the machine, I again can connect.

Please suggest a way-out.

Thanx.
