I have just run Dell P.C. check up and it failed the smart short self test. What does this mean? You don't give a lot of information but generally a "smart short self-test" refers to the hard drive. The Dell PC Checkup could be different so refer to its Help system for details. If your drive failed the short test, it's going to die very soon. Back up your data and replace the drive.
