I'm using xvid (and divx) video codecs in RC1 media player with no problem.
However Media Center refuses to recognize the codecs that are installed and working in media player. I've seen this issue posted before with no resolution - any other ideas? |

I am having exactly the same problem. I don't undertand how Media Centre can
fail to play a file that plays perfectly well in WMP or even in Graphedit. What is different about MCE, why doesn't it use DShow like everything else? Media Centre is now useless unless the file is .wmv or some for mpeg 2. "Herschel" wrote: I'm using xvid (and divx) video codecs in RC1 media player with no problem. Additionally, I had the same problem with XPMCE prior to upgrading, it was
this specific issue that prompted me to try Vista. "Herschel" wrote: I'm using xvid (and divx) video codecs in RC1 media player with no problem. I noticed the same thing unfortunately. I haven't been able to find anything
on this from the media center, vista, or windows media player forums "Stuart" wrote: Additionally, I had the same problem with XPMCE prior to upgrading, it was this specific issue that prompted me to try Vista. I found the answer for my system at least:
I am using Vista x64 and the Media Centre requires x64 codecs. This one works: http://ffdshow.faireal.net/mirror/ff...64-rev2546.exe Huzzah! "Herschel" wrote in message ... It works! Thank you!
I uninstalled my old ffdshow, and installed this one instead, and now I can play video in media center but not in wmp. weird. It seems you need both. =P "Stuart" wrote: I found the answer for my system at least: I am using Vista x64 and the Media Centre requires x64 codecs. Vista x64 still uses the x86 version of WMP11!
To switch to x64 WMP: Run this at a cmd prompt %windir%\system32\unregmp2.exe /SwapTo:64 Then go here in regedit: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\App Paths\wmplayer.exe And set the Values as follows: (Default) - "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" Path - %ProgramFiles%\Windows Media Player "Ugtar" wrote in message news ![]() It works!
