Hi,
I'm using Vista RC2 (Build 5744) as a 'MC only' with an nVidia GeForce 7600GS, a VistaView Saber2020 PCI-E TV Tunercard. Further my computer is equipped with an Intel P4 (Prescott) 2.8Ghz, 1.5GB internal memory and a Samsung SP2504C harddisk. System running perfectly with a score of 4.2 but somehow I get the impression that the Video Acceleration is not working or not working properly. I've checked the settings in WMP11 and it shows that 'hardware Acceleration (DXVA)' is running. I've installed nVidia PureVideo DVD Decoder Platinum and used a gadget 'Windows Vista Decoder Checkup Utility' which I found on the Internet to set the nVidia the default Decoder in Vista. So far everything works but the video speed isn't speedy enough compared with my Windows XP 2K5 MCE. When I play DVD's the nVidia Decoder is running but looking at the settings the 'Hardware Acceleration' is on but the Decoder is running in YUY2 mode instead of the expected DXVA mode. The nvidia graphics driver is the 96.85 version, is there any settings I've overlooked? With best regards, Victor |

I had a similar problem with RC1. I didn't realize RC2 was available yet?
When did that come out? "Victor Max" wrote: Hi, I'm using Vista RC2 (Build 5744) as a 'MC only' with an nVidia GeForce 7600GS, a VistaView Saber2020 PCI-E TV Tunercard. I have a MSI nVidia 7600GS and get a score of 4.7 and 4.8 for the two
graphics tests. I have a Core 2 Duo 6400, 2 GB of Ram and my boot drive is a 160GB SATA II. I get 5.6 on memory, 5.1 on CPU and 5.4 on disk. I don't know how much the CPU speed affects the video test results but the 7600GS works pretty well for me. Im beginning to think it must be a driver issue or something that was
recently updated that is causing the problem. I am sorely tempted to wipe the HD & start fresh to see what happens. I believe that it may be a NVIDIA DVD Decoder problem since I have exactly
the same problem with my dual boot system of which only the Graphics card driver is different between XP SP2 and Vista RC2 and since my graphics chip is an Intel and not and NVIDIA I thought at first that it was an Intel Vista driver problem. I am using DVD Decoder 223 on both systems. When I play exactly the same MCE TV program file with Media Player first on XP with Hardware acceleration enabled I get DXVA mode, however, then I play it again of Vista with hardware acceleration enabled I get YUY2 mode.
