Default WMV Constipation & Media Player 11

In the past week I noticed that Media Player 11 - which was working fine
until now - is starting to choke and freeze up the playing of any WMV file.
I'm running an Athlon 2500 with 1 gig memory & a 256 Meg NVidia 9600 card.
Anyone else experience the same problem?

You should check if you installed some codec pack that causes incompatibility
issues with WMP 11. wmv should run with no problems, its the Wmp native
format.

OK... here is where it gets weird.

The WMV I receive in my Windows Mail InBox freeze up midway through playing.
When I save them to my hard drive they play fine.
Got any ideas on what causes that?

I'm having a similar problem with RC-1 5600. I can't play mms files from
online. xp does it without problem. I thought MMS was a Microsoft standard...

Hmmm... weirdness in WMV files seems to be spreading. Not good.
