I have experienced the same issue with RC1. I re-installed the OS twice and
found that I couldn't get it to work as in XP Pro SP2. My work-around has been to reverse the connection from my computer to the internet (broadband) with the connection from my computer to the router. For some reason, this works. Jeff "David A Gourlay" wrote: "Jimmy Brush" wrote: Card 2 on your Vista box appears misconfigured. It is attempting to get an ip address automatically (and failing), because it is the one who should be giving ip addresses out. The Win2k client is also failing to receive an ip address, because the Vista machine is not sending out ip addresses. ICS does not appear to be enabled on your Vista machine. You can get to the appropriate control panel by typing "Network Connections" into the location bar of any explorer window and pressing enter. Then enable ICS the same way you would have enabled it on Windows XP. (Right-click Card 1, click properties, click sharing tab, and enable ICS). This should re-set the settings on Card 2 to allow for ICS. - JB Vista Support FAQ http://www.jimmah.com/vista/ Hi, Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, however, ICS is enabled. Interestingly, when I enable ICS on the Internet card, it changes the IP on the Local card to 192.168.0.1 and subnet to 255.255.255.0. I had to change it to automatic IP afterwards. I also tried accepting this setting and changing the W2K card to manual IP, 192.168.0.2, subnet 255.255.255.0 and gateway 192.168.0.1. This allowed file sharing but again no Internet on the client PC. To me, a non-professional, it seems the two cards on the Vista computer don“t want to talk to each other. Is there anything I can do to solve this? Thanks again. |
