I have the exact same issue when trying to connect multiple vista business machines to a 2000 domain. as soon as I join the machine I cannot get to any computer on the network. All of the services fail to start such as DHCP etc etc. when I try to connect I get a message connection status unknown. The dependency service or group failed to start. -- mikemcse |

Hey guys--any luck dealing with this? I'm having the exact same problem and have no "Non-XP" restore points to go back to so I'm really stuck... Desperately hoping for a reply.. ![]() -- milcasey ------------------------------------------------------------------------ milcasey's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=24697 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=590657 http://forums.techarena.in |

I figured out my issue. It was related to my 2000 default domain group policy settings that were getting applied when joining the machine to a domain. Add the machine to an OU with block group policy enabled. And create a special policy and apply it to the vista machines with minimal settings. Vista does not like policy changes that mess with security settings at all. -- mikemcse |
