I have a wired LAN. From the Vista machines I can see all the XP machines.
But no shared resources from the Vista machines show up on the XP machines. Is there something I need to do in Vista or on the XP machines? TIA |

I had a similar problem. I was able to see the vista shares on my xp machine
but not able to access them. I fixed that problem by adding the "everyone" group to the security list on the vista share and giving it full access. You might have file sharing turned off in the network and sharing center. "Nita Klew" wrote: I have a wired LAN. From the Vista machines I can see all the XP machines. Hi,
You need to turn the Network on in order to view the network devices on Vista. You should still be able to view the Vista shares from XP. Did you try to acces the Vista pc by its ip directly - Goto Start - Run and type the ip e.g. \\192.168.0.10 and see if you can access it. Or give the share name after ip e.g. \\192.168.0.10\Share. abc. "Nita Klew" wrote: I have a wired LAN. From the Vista machines I can see all the XP machines. You also need to make it a private network in "networking".

I had the same problem. I could see the XP machine but the XP machine could
not see the Vista computer. I went to the network setup on the XP machine and had it to show me the computers on the network. When I doulble clicked the Vista computer's icon it asked for the user name & password. I filled in the blanks, checked the "remember password" blank and that solved the problem. On the XP machine the procedure was: Start, Control Panel, Network Connections, My Network Places, View Workgroup Computers, double click Vista Comuter's Icon, Provide Username and Password and check remember. i had a similar problem, my problem was that Vista defaults the network name
to workgroup i believe and my XP machine was set to "home" so if you go to the network and sharing center and make sure your network names are the same on both machines....
