Not sure what hapened, i'll summarise he

1) Installed Vista Ultimate - all worked fine no issues - besides not bieng
able to detect more thn 9 channels.

2) I removed my Kworld DBV-T driver after having restarted and it detected
the panasonic chiset driver.

3) Restarted again recieved 0x0000007e,
4) Safemode and i got 0x0000008e
5) Tried to restore last known good config i got STOP: C0000218 (registry
file failure)

So now i cant get to safe mode - i cant try to put in Vista DVD & choose
repair PC - as soon as i do, i recieve 0x0000008E

Are you saying that you cannot boot with the dvd in order to try the repair
options? The first and most obvious option would to be to run system
restore. Vista supports running SR even if the system won't load. If the
dvd isn't booting the machine then you probably need to change the boot
order in the BIOS so that the optical drive is ahead of the hard drive.

Thanks Colin/Its Personal,

This this is really really p&#^*g me off. Besides this 0x7E & 0x8E - its an
awesome OS. On my other personal PC - similar issue, i gave up trying to fix
& bought new 500Gb HDD and re-imaged it, touch wood no failure's yet.

FYI - Located possible hotfix - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941021/en-us

got reply with beta patch from MS 2day - but they forgot to mention if i
cannot bot up the PC how do i install the hotfix...

Back to yr 2 points re boot order & hardware - (been building PC's since my
1st 0x86, so boot order is ok)
2day i've done this:
- I reset Bios defaults (incase any other issues)
- I' had 2Gb ram in PC 2x512 & 1x1Gb (so running 64bit single mode) So i
removed the 1Gb stip so now its runnign 1GB dual channel.

Restarted PC safemode & safemode commant prompt, & once again rebooted with
Vista DVD - it failed (more on this below)
When you boot up with dvd choose language choose repair my computer
then it started to scan PC after the blue bar reach's 3rd cycle - "Violoa" -
0x08E

Arrgghh

Thanks IP...
chk reply above - I guess i've read on other forums this 0x07E & 0x8E is
caused by the A97 built in Mobo soundcard. So i Disabled everything - IRda,
Sound, USB, Serial, parallel - everything.

Same thing - I'll remove the Kworld card in few mins- & try reboot again.

I had a similiar problem a couple of months ago and it turned out to
be a faulty piece of hardware. It could be related to your bios and
you should make sure you have the latest. Otherwise, remove all
hardware except what you need to boot the machine and see if it will
boot.
