....on a one week old Vista machine. Not networked. It does not appear on the login screen though. Appears as a Standard user, Password protected. I certainly didn't create it, and certainly didn't assign a password. MS KB online articles address it XP only. windowsxpmvps.org says: don't touch it: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Autologon.htm Should I just ignore it? Is there a reason Vista or a component would create a password protected account...and not let the machine admin know what that is? Will I ever like Vista ?? |

The account can exist in Windows XP also. http://www.mvps.org/marksxp/WindowsXP/aspdot.php I have no idea whether you will ever like Vista. Perhaps if you approach it with an open mind and learn it. Perhaps not. There are always alternatives. Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com Don't Panic! |

I know it can exist in XP. In fact, my original post said as much. In 5 years as an XP user, it never appeared even once. Now it's appeard after a week on a Vista machine, and I'm interested in the best thing to do with it --in Vista. Ignore? Delete? I'm aware of the alternatives. So let's see: you not only didn't answer my question...but apparently you're sense of humor doesn't work either. If you had gone to the link I gave you, you would have learned what the ASP.NET account is and where it came from. If it has appeared on Vista, it is because you installed something that uses the .Net framework 1.1. If it never appeared in XP, you never installed something that needed it. I don't have it on any of my XP or Vista boxen, either. There is no way for me to know what you installed that needs .Net framework 1.1. As for my sense of humor, it's true I didn't see anything amusing about your post - all I see is someone who is lazy and likes to insult people who are trying to help you. *plonk* Malke -- MS-MVP Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com Don't Panic! |

I'll take your plonk. Will you promise to take remember all meds and stop insulting frustrated users looking for help with a complex product? But of course..you won't be seeing this. |
