Default Frequent reboots needed to maintain internet connection

I have an HP desktop with Vista connected to the internet via a cable modem.
When turning the computer on, there is an internet connection. After a few
minutes the internet connection is lost and the only way to regain the
connection is to reboot and then it will work for a few more minutes - then
reboot is needed and this cycle continues.... The ISP insists that I am
receiving a good signale and it must be a problem with the computer. Vista's
network repair / troubleshooting does not detect a problem.
Any suggestions...?
Thank you.

OK, I will post this info but it won't be until next weekend. This is
actually a relative's computer and I will be setting the computer up in my
house next weekend so I can have continuous access to it until this problem
is resolved.
Thank you.

unless you bring his cable modem and everything else on his network,
it won't be the same. it might work just fine at your house,
depending. you would be much better off trouble shooting at the
location where it is used.

OK, I'll have to first try bringing everything to my house and see if I can
get it working here. Before I disconnect it I'll run and save ipconfig / all
at its current location. Then post it...

But at least if I test it at my house and get it working we'll know for sure
it is not a hardware problem... If I can get it working good at my house
then I'll take it back to her house and spend the time to get it configured
so it works for her there.
On 3/2 I'll be picking it up and post an update then.
Thank you.

Default Frequent reboots needed to maintain internet connection

Before I disconnected the computer at my relative's house I was able to take
a screen shot of ipconfig /all when the internet connection was working and
then again when it was not working. I have those screenshots pasted in a
Word documents. Is ther a way to post them here as Word Documents or do have
an email address that I could send them to for your review?

Right now the computer has been hooked up at my house for about two hrs.
After the first few minutes I lost the internet connection. I rebooted and
then went to Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center, then Manage Network
Connections. From here I disabled the network device and then deleted it.
Then I added a new connection and it has now worked for about 1 1/2 hrs now.
I'll keep using it and see if I can get it to fail again....

Thank you.

Default Frequent reboots needed to maintain internet connection

After a few good hours, I lost the internet connection. I'm posting this
from my laptop with Windows XP which has always worked fine in my house.
Since I am having the problem at my house now with this computer, it's got to
be something with this computer - either Vista setting, hardware or something
- because my desktop and laptop have always worked fine - both with Win XP.

Do you have any suggestions with the Vista settings based on the ipconfig's
that I posted? Or is it time to call HP? The computer is only about 5
months old.... and this problem has persisted since the beginning but we
thought it was the ISP problem with bad cable lines in the area.

Thanks
