I recently bought a new HP Laptop dv6746TX with Windows Vista Premium and
tried to set up my DSL connection with the LAN Ethernet cable. I called my ISP and they said I had to manually configure the properties of the LAN by changing the TCP/IP v4 by inputting IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, preferred DNS and alternate DNS. However, when I put in all the numbers and pressed OK, my laptop automatically restarted itself. When I later checked the TCP/IP v4 data, it reverted itself to "Automatically obtain ..." instead of retaining my manually inputted data. How can I correct this so the TCP/IP v4 keeps the data I inputted and also without randomly restarting? Thanks! |
