Default HP Laptop Unable to Find Wireless Networks

I'm using an HP notebook with Windows Vista 6.0 and am unable to find any
wireless networks. I've tried troubleshooting, repairing, and even making
sure my wifi is on and nothing has worked. When I try to connect to a network
my computer says there are none available, usually I'm able to see about 6
networks including my own. How can I fix this? Thanks
