Default HP PhotoSmart 1000 PLUS TWO-SIDED PRINTING with Vista

Hi,
I have managed to get my HP Photosmart 1000 printer to work with
my new Vista-running PC thanks to help from online users. Using the
built-in HP DeskJet 930c/932c/935c Driver did the trick.

Unfortunately, this driver does not seem to have the the two-sided-
printing option which was available with the Millennium driver for
this printer.

Does anyone know of a driver which will let me use my HP Photosmart
1000 printer plus the Duplex (=double-sided printing) attachment with
Vista ?

I would be grateful for any help. I really don't want to have to
scrap a perfectly serviceable printer - despite HP's deplorable lack
of support.

Thanks,

Michael

Have you tried installing the XP driver and software from:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...=en&cc=us&dlc=
en&product=61872&lang=en

» HP Photosmart printer software/driver

06-2003 3.5 - 5.19M

» CD - Photosmart Photo Printers software/driver

01-2002 3.4.13 - 0 bytes

If by any chance you have IOMEGA stuff installed (ZIP drive?) then note
the patch.

Download those files using DOWNLOAD ONLY not the Install now and after
removing all traces of any previous installation -- icons in the
Printers folder; HP software in Remove Programs and if you are using
USB cable connection disconnect that from the PC end and reboot.

Then select the downloaded file, right mouses click on it and select
Properties / Compatibility TAB. Then check the box for Compatibility
mode and set it to XP with SP2 and check the Run as Administrator box
and OK your way out. If it does not automatically start the
installation then double click on the file to start the installation.

Don't connect the USB cable until told to by the installation procedure
or you reach [Finish].

Then repeat all of this for the Photoprinters software file including
setting compatibility mode and Run as administrator.

Hope that helps -- let us know.

The Deskjet 930 series did not have a duplexer by default, it was an option.
To enable the duplexer in Vista go to the printers folder, select the
Deskjet 930, then go to Properties, Device Settings, and select "Installed"
for "Two Sided Printing".

I also wanted my HP photosmart 1000 to work with Vista so I followed
advice above by Huwyngr - many thanks that loaded ok and printer icon
appeared - when printing the printer activity page shows 'printing' then
'deleting' and nothing happens at the printer! Am I missing a step? Port
seems to be DOT.....?
