Default Host name resolution

I have a home ntwk with Linksys Wireless G-Gateway as a switch between the
PCs. Prior to loading Vista on TOWER1 I used NetBIOS over TCP/IP to provide
names resolution and I could ping and talk from Host to Host using their
name. Since loading Vista I can not reach other Hosts on my nwtk from TOWER1
and other hosts can see but not access TOWER1 (Vista). I can ping with IP
addr from any to any, but not using host name.

TCP/IP indicates use NetBIOS over TCP/IP.
I unchecked TCP/IP v6 and have everything else normal in my IP protocol
settings (using TCP v4).
Linksys provides DHCP to my network and access to comcast internet where DNS
server resides. WINS is not set up.

I tried setting up a LMHOST.SAM file but Vista won't let me save anything in
the directory where that file resides.

Any thoughts.
