My IPWireless modem connects to the pc via ethernet cable, and in XP used the
PPPoE. After my upgrade to Vista the modem is not detected. My networking skills are not too hot and I would appreciate any insights. |

You most likely missing drivers. Check your device manager. You will
likely find an unknown device with a yellow exclamation icon. You need to find device drivers. There is a remote possibility that XP drivers would work if you manually install them however might not be as stable or reliable as Vista specific drivers.
