Default hard drive problems

My hard drive is saying in only have 20 gb of free space when my hard drive
has 144gb total space and my computer is pretty new. Even looking in my
uninstall programs section there is only about 10 gb of stuff so 120 gb is
definately not really taken up but windows thinks it is for some reason.
What do i have to do to my hard drive to fix this. Is there a special
windows software kind of like disk cleanup and disk degragmenter that will
fix this. Disk defragmenter currently isn't working on my computer right now.

System Restore normally takes up to 15% of your drive to save restore
points.
To see how much it's using,
Start - All Programs - Accessories
right-click on "Command Prompt", select "Run as Administrator"
in the command window, type
vssadmin List ShadowStorage

The defragger runs in the background, but doesn't free up disk space.

You can periodically run Disk Cleanup to get rid of temporary files, empty
the Recycle Bin, etc.
Right-click on the C: drive, select Properties, click on Disk Cleanup
