Default cant access shared folders

Hi , Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. We recently purchased a
new Linksys WRT54G version 5. We have 2 PCs, both wired to the router. One
runs Windows XP and vista RC1 on the other. We used the Linksys “easylink
connect” to set up the network. We have set folders to “shared” on both. The
workgroup names are the same on both. On both machines we are able to see all
the folders on the other machine which are set to share. We have also set all
the sharing and permission settings we can find to “allow anyone to do
anything”. When we click on a shared folder on the other machine, we get an
error message “\\Patty-pc\C is not accessible. You might not have permission
to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to
find out if you have access permissions. Access is denied.” We are able to
access the internet on both machines. We also tried the Easylink advisor.
Everything seemed fine. The router and network seem to be working fine. Seems
like this is a problem with permissions or priveleges. I’ve looked everywhere
for any way to get access. Any ideas on resolving this would be greatly
appreciated.

I did have a similar problem (XP Home - Vista RC1) and the only things that
seemed to actually help beyond what you have done were to:

1. make sure I had a Guest account which was enabled on the Vista machine
2. Turn "Password Protected Sharing" OFF in the Network and Sharing Center
