My wife's desktop machine is a HP a1730n running Vista Home Premium. After
putting it in standby, after a short while, it comes back up to operation. Most of the time it does this but sometimes, it will go all night staying in standby. I asked this group about this and got the advice to go to advanced settings in Power Options and change the multimedia setting "when showing multimedia" to "allow the computer to sleep". This seemed to fix it for a short while and then it reverted back to not staying in standby. I am looking for some more advanced wisdom on this problem and hope for a solution! Thanks in advance. Did you apply all of the following?
Go to Advance Power Settings. Set hard drive to turn off a minute or 2 before sleep. Set Hybrid and Hibernate modes to "Never" Under USB settings select "Disable" Under Multimedia select "Allow ....." "Bascom King" wrote in message ... IIRC, this is a recognised problem - and it may have been addressed in SP1.
I certainly know that problems where a machine wouldn't come out of sleep is an issue. I could be due to your mouse of keyboard or some other peripheral - some of these periodically send signals back to the PC regardless of any activity - enough to convince windows that the machine is back in use. Not really sure you can do about this though, short of changing hardware. |

When following up to a previous post, you don't need to include everything.
Snip out what's not relevant. But do include what is relevant. "CJM" wrote in message ... IIRC, this is a recognised problem - and it may have been addressed in SP1. Bascom King Hi Bascom King, See if this can help you find out what is waking your computer up. I would check your network device Power Management settings and your BIOS "Wake on LAN" settings to start with. These are sometimes the culprit. http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/63...-problems.html Shawn -- Brink *There are no dumb questions, just the people that do not ask them.* '*Vista x64 Forums*' (http://www.vistax64.com/index.php?referrerid=2980) *Please post feedback to help others.* |

Actually top-posting is the norm for MS newsgroups.

Hello Brink! Thank you for the most informative URL below. This is by far
the most comprehensive information on various Vista sleep problems I have seen. It looks like I may have already solved the problem from what I learned.
