Default sharing between vista and me

Does anyone know how to share folders between vista and ME? My desktop has
vista and my laptop has ME. I'm trying to acces a shared folder on my
laptop. And every time i type in my username and password, it tells me its
incorrect. I can see the shared folder fine from the network on my vista
machine. I know my password is correct. I use the same password for logging
onto the laptop as i use for the shared folder. So its got to do with the
username. iv tried user names as such \\scott-laptop , scott , laptop,
\\scott , \\laptop , \\elvispresleyhaskidnappedmydog. You name it iv tried
it.Im out of clues.

Hello,

Please try the following on your Vista computer:

- Click Start
- Click Control Panel
- Click System and Maintenance
- Click Administrative Tools
- Double-Click Local Security Policy
- In the left pane, click the triangle next to Local Policy
- In the left pane, click Security Options
- In the right pane near the bottom, double-click "Network security: LAN
manager authentication level"
- Click the drop-down box, and click "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session
security if negotiated"
- Click OK
- Restart the computer

Well, I dont have an answer for you, but you are not alone. I'm not even
using passwords but I have almost the same setup as you but I have xp and
vista. Trying to access any thing on vista, I get a solid wall of "access
denied". I've gone as deep as I can setting permissions and sharing, but
still a solid wall. Posted to several NGs, no help at all. Good luck.
