I might have a solution but i'm still testing it.
For installing the apache webserver on windows vista you need to shut down windows defender and User Account Control (UAC). Then the installer will install de "apache2 service" which is needed to run apache. After the software is installed you can try to activate windows defender and User Account Control (UAC). Allthough i have a problem which i'm not able to solve yet. It seems there is another protocol/service running on port 80. But i do not know which protocol that might be. So i can't shut it down yet. You might also want to disable the IIS service (located in the add/remove windows features) Goodluck! Update:
I have a update on the apache webserver issue. The apache webserver is working properly but i still didn't figure out how to get it online. So you are able to host/test local but not online yet. I have another update to make. For testing the apache server I shut down
Windows Defender and UAC control. I also disabled the firewall. Clearly the firewall is not responsible for this problem. I suspect the Windows Defender to be the problem but i will send an update right here when i'm done with testing. "Dr. Computer" wrote: Update: I have a update on the apache webserver issue. Firstly thanks for the help. After I'd disabled Skype from using port 80 as a backup, Apache loaded fine for me. Whether Skype was the problem or if it was just a coincidence? -- Brufton |
