cd/dvd not usable after downloading windows updates
After downloading Windows updates and driver updates, my cd/dvd player does
not work. I cannot install my printer or camara software because the player will not open. I took it to Frys (where I purchased)and was charged for a diagnostics test which they stated was not a hardware problem, but a software problem which the warranty did not cover. They then charged another fee for putting my computer back to factory condition. The total cost being about $140.00. This is a new computer purchased for Christmas 2007. After getting it back home from Frys and hooked up, I was prompted to download Windows updates. The same thing happened. I cannot use my cd/dvd device. Could you please help me? |

Please use the Microsoft support for updates. It is free support regardless
of whether you are eligible for other kinds of support. Use the links in Windows Update to reach the WU support. You can also use the microsoft.public.windowsupdate newsgroup for assistance.
