Default For some reason my network gets no IP from my router in Vista.

Hello,

For some reason my network gets no IP in windows vista. I tried to fill in
all the info (DNS, IP, Subnet, etc) manually, but it still not not work, it
does not even see my router.

Under XP it works fine. I have a draytek Vigor 2600W

Anyone else have any idea's how to solve the prob?

I have a difficult time with my route also. I have a Dlink 704P
boadband router with the lastest firmware (2004). when I first boot
vista I get limited connectivity (local only). When I check the
network settings my LAN card (ULi from Asrock mb) lists an IP address
of 169.254.124.179 which not remotely like the address range set up on
my router.

IF I disable IPv6 and the re-enable IPv6 I can get a connection.
Sometimes I get a connection as an "unidentified public network"

I sent a bug report to Microsoft and got back a reply telling me it
will be fixed in the final version of vista, which does me a fat lot
of good right now.

I have noted a number of people using Asrock motherboards have similar
problems but not fix.

Feeling a bit dumb, remembered what the 169 IP address was.
Still, the network adapter can't seem to communicate quickly with the
router. Perhaps I need a new router?

You don't need a new router. Vista, although I love it, is very buggy in it's
current incarnation w/regard to networking. I had the same problem as you.
Exactly. Set it up manually. Still no change. Then I did a REPAIR THIS
CONNECTION and it works until I reboot. Reboot and get "LIMITED NETWORK
CONNECTIVIY". Run REPAIR again and it works.
Buggy buggy.
