Hi, I have a Desktop with Windows Vista Ultimate and a Laptop With Windows
Vista Home Premium. The Desktop has the printer connect via USB and the laptop is connect to network wireless. The laptop can access network shared files and also sees and installs printer. I then print a test page and it works great. However when I try to print any documents they fail to print. I tried intalling the printer on the laptop as a local printer then adding a local port and mapping it to the desktop \\desktop\printer but get an access denied error. Any other suggestions or solutions will be highly appreciated. thanks |

Hi Robert, Thanks for your reply. I have all the password sharing off and
other settings good. I have figured out what is happening. I go to Add Printer, then Add network, wiresless or bluetooth printer. It then searches for available printers and doesn't find it. So i choose to install printer that isn't listed. I then add printer by name \\Desktop\Printer It then prompts me for administrator username and password for the desktop with printer connected. I enter the details and boom connected and can print anything. However, when I logoff or shutdown my laptop and then boot up again and try to print I get a error-unable to send document to printer. So I have come to the conclusion that when I entered the UN & PW when installing the printer it seems to lose the credentials after a reboot. How can i stop this from happening??? "Robert L. 1. Do you enter the same username and password as the logon username and
password? 2. You may want to create the same Vista username and password in the Desktop. Please post back with the result. -- Bob Lin, MS-MVP, MCSE & CNE Networking, Internet, Routing, VPN Troubleshooting on http://www.ChicagoTech.net How to Setup Windows, Network, VPN & Remote Access on http://www.HowToNetworking.com "Brian Nicholas" wrote in message ... Hi Robert, Sorry for the long delay on the reply. It sure did solve this
problem. I did have the same username on both machines but only the laptop was password protected. Now I added the same password for the desktop solving the problem. Thanks very much "Robert L.
