Consider this: Whenever a new error condition appears on your computer, it
is almost certain that there was some change to the computer soon before the
problem began. http://aumha.org/a/parasite.htm

Unexplained computer behavior may be caused by deceptive software.

You will see by numerous postings on 3-2-08 that there was an automatic
update done early that day and there are many of us with this problem and as
of yet there has been no permanent solution found that I have heard of. Mine
is one of the many which have been small since that update. No changes were
made, it all took place while my computer was in sleep mode and when it woke
up this is the way it was (small)

If you believe the problem is related to recent updates, uninstall the
updates and then reinstall one at a time until you find the culprit.

For future reference, do not automatically install updates. Choose the
option to automatically download and let me choose...

I had the same problem, managed to track it back to this update after having
to do 3 system restores to be able to locate it, dated release 01/03/2008, so
try returning before this point.
Update =
Intel Corporation - Video - Intel(R) G33/G31 Express Chipset Family

Download size: 11.2 MB

You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.

Update type: Important

Intel Corporation Video software update released in January, 2008

More information:
http://winqual.microsoft.com/support/?driverid=20132341

Help and Support:
http://support.microsoft.com/select/?target=hub

then changed the settings on the windows install page to "check for updates
but let me choose whether to install"
Am not sure whether these problems are only being experienced by Dell wide
screen monitor owners and would be interested in feedback

Thank you so much. I found the exact update which was done on my computer
3/2. Worked perfect and now I'm happy again.
