Default DVD dives not recognised

Hi,

I am running Vista Home Premium, Academic, and it will not recognise my
DVD drives.
The drivers are loaded but I cannot run any disks from them and they do not
show on ‘My Computer’.
Can anyone assist please?

Sounds like drivers need updating or reinstallation. Do it show up in
Device Manager and Computer / Disk Manager?

You're most welcome.

Seems to be a very common problem...

(And congratulations on the very humorous and original thank you.)

This is a fix that seems to cure the problem of missing CD/DVD drives:
