I have a clean install of Vista behind a Verizon ADSL router/modem.
Am I nuts or Vista is crazy .. Only option for "conection setup" is Broadband Connection (pppOE) and then it fails to come up . If I just let it sit for 10+ MINUTES .. it finally establishes the connection. After boot the networking fails to come up (100%) .. "new" connection fails to talk to the router. I have 2 questions. Is there ANY way not to use this PPPOE interface to talk to the router? My Linux Box does .. as well my XP machine ... what's going on with Vista? No one seems to have this issue or at least discuss this. What's the reason for 10+ minutes of "network start" time? I can't disable checksums from the driver .. it's not clear if the driver is doing the checksums .. I have tried turning autotuning off .. I also disabled IPV6 as well as firewall off .. but nothing makes a difference. Networking comes up .. but after 10+ minutes |

That is the same problem I had with The RC-1. My only cure was to format RC-1
and reinstall Beta 2 again. It connects perfectly with DHCP. I have read a lot of the problems with getting on line with RC-1 and noticed there no replys by the MVP's with an answer. There are plenty on the other Newsgroups. Take care, Al. "I used to be John G" wrote: I have a clean install of Vista behind a Verizon ADSL router/modem. Am I nuts or Vista is crazy .. First of all I am using a "newer" build than RC1 .. though I had the same
problem with RC2 also. Anyways .. the problem has disappeared magically. I didn't change a thing ...it's possible that online update fetched something and fixed it .. but for the past 3 days the networking starts up properly by itself. No wait .. nothing . but the frequency of blue screens is still the same .. at least once a day ... even when you aren't even touching the pc ..
