You can go to the Control Panel System System Protection on the left
pane and uncheck the disk under Automatic restore points. It will ask if you are sure. Say yes, and the System Restore feature is disabled. -- Dustin Harper http://www.vistarip.com | Vista Resource & Information Page "ICQM Houston" wrote in message ... how to disable system restore in windows vista 32? this system restore is useless. when i do system restore, the computer got even worst and it becomes a painful and frustrating experience -\ it is totally useless |

If you disable SR you will eventually regret it. I suggest you post the
specific problem(s) you have had with it to see if it can be solved. -- *Report back, please* How to ask a question http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555375 http://dts-l.net/goodpost.htm http://oakroadsystems.com/genl/unice.htm "ICQM Houston" wrote in message ... how to disable system restore in windows vista 32? this system restore is useless. when i do system restore, the computer got even worst and it becomes a painful and frustrating experience -\ it is totally useless |

I couldn't agree more. I've never had system restore do anything substantial
for me. I often debate whether I should even leave it turned on. Probably not. If I ever had anything major go wrong, I would be better off doing a reformat anyway. Conversely, under certain circumstances it can be a virtual life-saver, especially when it comes to rolling back driver updates. it is totally useless In XP, I'd more or less have agreed with you (or at least it wasn't reliable enough for my tastes, the few times I had occasion to use it, I ended up having to manually remove the unwanted drivers anyway), but in Vista, I've had much better luck. |

I might append my earlier post by saying my less-than-satisfying experience
with system restore has all been in Windows XP. I'm a newbie to Vista, so perhaps system restore works better in it.
