Default No media at all

after re-installing Vista due to a re-booting issue i have no sound and
connot view streaming videos on the internet. the device manager shows all
hardware is installed and drivers up to date. when trying to view a video on
you tube or similar the video buffers and plays 10 sec or so before stoping,
if i click play it will play for 10 sec then stop again. i have windows sound
on start up but no sound in windows media player. whats going on??

LOL, no i havnt but thanks anyway, if only it was that simple, the picture
stalls as well as no sound though.
