Default RPS.exe in processes

I have noticed that my pc seems to be running something all the time, the
little light is forever flashing and it sounds like its doing a lot of work.
I clicked on the task manager and the process that seems to be taking up
alot of memory and CPU is this RPS.exe. Sometimes it takes up 99% of the CPU
usage.
What is this and should it really be doing what it is, ie using so much.
I'm a bit of a slow coach with things like this, not technically minded at
all, so please bare with me. It's just that I've been trying to use my pc for
my games and now they're saying that there's an access violation and wont run.
Help somebody please? I thank you in advance if you can.
