Default Wireless Network Connection Problems

Hi there,

I've noticed a few posts regarding network connections. Some occur
sporadically. My problem is whenenver I open the computer (I leave it on all
the time - I assume it goes into hibernation or sleep mode but don't know for
sure) it cannot find any wireless networks. We live in a subdivision where
almost every home has a wireless conncetion, I know there are approximately
20 out there because my other computers pick them up. In order to get
connection I have to restart the laptop---everytime this happens. It is very
frustrating.

Now, I am technically challenged and have no idea what is the cause or why
this is happening. I bought this laptop at the same time as another
(identical laptops), and the second does not experience this connection
problem. All settings are the same (I think) and I would really like my
daughter to be able to "pop the top" and have internet connection without
restarting.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

if you right click the wireless icon in the system tray and select
Diagnose and Repair, do you reconnect?

change your power scheme to high performance. does this help?

do you have the latest drivers for your wireless card? do you have
the latest firmware for your router? (what exactly are you
connecting TO?)

please post the TEXT output of ipconfig /all as a reply.
