AVG Antivirus is antivirus not spyware. It for some reason won't even load
on the new RC1 5536 build. However spyware blaster and spyware guard from http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/ both work on my build -- imadreamer2 "William" wrote: AVG Free Antivirus runs on 5536. Trend Micro PC Cillin Internet Security seems to run fine and includes
antispyware, antivirus, and a firewall. Its free features, however, are limited to late October. "Alice" wrote: Is there an antispyware alternative to Windows Defender? Using Windows Vista a Pre-RC1. Thanks in advance, Alice |

Awil's aVast! antivirus works well on RC1 even thought (like most programs)
it is flagged for incompatiblity by Vista. Only change is you can't update defs or programs from the toolbar ICON but can from the running program itself. "Alice" wrote in message ... Is there an antispyware alternative to Windows Defender? Using Windows Vista a Pre-RC1. Thanks in advance, Alice |

I did not find that Avast would work on RC1. Vista gave continual
incompatibility warnings and would not load the drivers for the program. I have been using Ad-Aware SE Professional by Lavasoft with Beta 2 and now
Pre-Rc1 and have not encountered any problem so far. Alice wrote: Is there an antispyware alternative to Windows Defender? Using Windows Vista a Pre-RC1. Thanks in advance, Alice -- Message posted via http://www.windowskb.com |
