Bitlocker doesn't work in this build.
In Beta 2, you could use Bitlocker to encrypt your Vista
volume even if you did not have "TPM". That is no longer an option. Pathetic, but expected. I just knew Microsoft was going to mess that up. -Michael |

My apologies for jumping to conclusions and running
off at the mouth. My problems with MSN music and DRM have me really bent out of shape. Thank you, John. -Michael "John Barnett MVP" wrote in message ... Michael it has been disabled. It took me one install to get the disk partioning right and another install only to discover that it didnt work. Should I try a 3rd time? Regards Peter / master of diskpart.exe :-) |

Bitlocker doesn't work in this build.
Peter i've only just finished downloading RC1 and haven't yet installed it.
As bitlocker was turned off in pre rc1 and, from what you tell me, it still remains off in RC1, then i would expect to be able to enable bitlocker using the group policy fix i already outlined. I'll see if i can install RC1 later tonight and post back - well unless someone else fixes it first! -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org The information in this mail is supplied "as is". I wonder why the MS "BitLocker™ Drive Encryption Team" doesnt write a thing like this in their blog. And why dont they update the Beta 2 step-by-step guide for Bitlocker to RC1? If I had 'my own' feature in Vista, updating the team blog would have top priority.... Regards Peter |

Bitlocker doesn't work in this build.
Peter i've installed Vista RC1 and the group policy fix works on the
bitlocker. When you click on the 'enable advanced setup option' if you look to the left of the gourp policy window you will see what this option does. Now click on the blue underlined 'properties' at the top of this colum and, in the properties window, select the 'enable' option then press ok. Bitlocker should now be available. -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org The information in this mail is supplied "as is". Peter, I can't say why this little 'tit bit' hasn't been added to the
bitblokcer drive encryption teams blog. I agree it is a pretty important piece of information, after all, not everyone has TPM compatible machine - me included, but at least the instructions are available in this newsgroups and will also be available on my website as soon as i have time to update. -- John Barnett MVP Associate Expert http://xphelpandsupport.mvps.org The information in this mail is supplied "as is".
