Please help:
In order to understand my problem first let me describe wonderful world I was in XP professional. 1. I had two laptops running XP professional. They were member of domain say XXX. 2. In both laptops on Cdrive I had shared folder myPrivateData 3. In office (while connected to domain) both laptop could see shared folders of each other. 4. In home I signed on with cashed credentials of domain and could operate as peer to peer network without any problem. (i.e. I signed on using domainname\userid profile) Problem: My problem started when I replaced one laptop with new laptop installed with vista business 64. 1. New vista business 64 laptop is also member of same domain 2. In office I have no problem in seeing each others shared folder. 3. In home when I sign both the laptops with Cashed credentials (same userid password on both laptops) (a) XP cannot see vista computer in My Network Places. I have installed LLTD responder on a computer running Windows XP (b) Vista can see XP laptop in (View Full map ) in network and sharing center but I cannot see my shared folder in XP machine (c) I can not connect to Vista from XP or to XP from vista using net use (d) nbstat shows that both computer know each others netbios name. Please note: In home both computers are member of same domain name (without domian controller) same as it used be in XP world. All normal things have been done i.e in Vista Network is private Network discovery on Public folder sharing on Firewall file and printer sharing on I need to get this working. Please help, as a backup I have requested hardware vendor to send me cd to downgrade my operating system from Vista business 64 to XP 32 professional Thanks for all your help oegarewal |

Net use ip@ resulted in similar error. Based on your note, here is my understanding for next actions ... On Vista and XP M/C I should try ... (a) net view ip@ and then (b) net view computername. Please help: In order to understand my problem first let me describe wonderful world I was in XP professional.
