What firewall, anti-virus application or security suite is installed? There
are some that cause problems which do not appear immediately.

I'd recommend a couple of things. Visit this post and download/install
the evilware/virus scanners:
http://www.vistax64.com/software/139...ies-vista.html

Then visit our excellent tutorial and see how you can speed up Vista:
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/81...nce-vista.html

I hope this helps.

Vista is slow anyhow but 15 minutes are exttreme.
I managed the following times on a 2.2GHz laptop, with 2GB RAM, fully tuned,
(several services disabled), defraged, etc.
Startup: 1:30
Logon (and become responsive): 1:45
logoff: 0:45
Turn off: 0:40
sleep: 0:35
Resume: 0:10 * with random behaviour. it takes much longer some times.

The following times were recorded on a clean session.

I still believe that XP is much faster on a less powerful and tuned machine
