When I try to update to SP1 with Windows Update I get an error code
800F0900 either without the download even proceeding (0%) or very soon after the download has started. It never has progressed beyond 6% of the download process without the error. It usually just stops. Anyone with any insight? Suggestions? I have initiated a support request with MS. Thanks for any help offered. Tinker |

I have now been able to upgrade to SP1.
The solution I have used was recommended by MS after multiple efforts to resolve the error in simpler ways. The problem seems to have resulted from corruption of mmcico.dll which I understand is a multimedia file. Through several attempts I was unable to resolve the corruption. The end resolution was to perform an in place upgrade installation of Vista64. Basically, insert install disk and pick upgrade from the install options. After a couple of hours I had a functional Vista machine again, which I walked through all the updates, including SP1. Now to get all my programs working again. The reinstall broke Nero, Quicken, and MagicDisk that I know of. Hopefully just a case of reinstalling them all. Tinker |

hi all
I apparently got rid of the 800F0900 error on my Vista Home Basic by installing Microsoft's System Update Readiness Tool (KB947821) - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821 for months, many updates gave me that error, but after installing KB947821, SP2 installation succeeded at first try. best hopes Tinker wrote: SP1 download error 800F0900 on vista 64 bit 22-mar-08 When I try to update to SP1 with Windows Update I get an error code 800F0900 either without the download even proceeding (0%) or very soon after the download has started.
